Air cargo handlers place luggage and other items on airplanes. A high school education is sufficient to enter this occupation, and newly hired handlers are trained on-the-job. The job involves:
1. Heavy Lifting.
2. Working in all types of Weather, and
3. Evening, Holiday and Weekend shifts.
Air cargo handlers need good communications skills, an understanding of how a load should be balanced and the ability to drive transport vehicles.
There are placement opportunities at the:
1. Airport
2. In Freight forwarding companies.
3. Courier companies and
4. Airlines.
Importantly, you need to qualify by enrolling for IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations program and also have basic Air Cargo Foundation to avail of these opportunities.
Air cargo handlers specialize in:
