    I would suggest you to opt for engineering through lateral entry in mining because that will open lot of opportunities.
    After pursuing mining engineering various job prospects are available with private and government companies as a consultant, production manager in underground coalmines, surface mines, underground metalliferous mine, mine manager, mine planning, mine designer, health and safety manger, mine ventilation engineer, operations, mining investment analyst and petroleum engineer.
    In India most of the jobs in mining are with government and public sector organizations such as:
