What is the scope of MA economics in the banking sector?

Economics degree provide excellent opportunity for a career in banking industry as economist or pure banker. MA Economics graduates with superior Mathematical and Data Analytical background are used for research and analysis of economic data, issues and trends, and use your results to produce reports and forecasts, which will assist the bank's other employees and clients for wealth financial asset management and risk management. In India, RBI, Public Sector Banks and Private Banks are largest employers of economic graduates. It has been found due to lack of career growth as Economist in BFSI Sector, Economics graduates shift to typical pure banker jobs of sector.

In MA, we study monetary economics. During graduation, we study banking and Indian economics. These are very relevant topics in banking work life. In RBI Grade A and B examinations, economics papers cover the entire syllabus. Economics has scope in every field, esp. in the banking sector. If you have an interest in the corporate sector then various banks like HDFC, Yes Bank, ICICI, ANZ, Axis Bank, American Express Bank, etc., hire Masters in economics students as analysts. The incentives and growth prospects are immense. When we talk about the government sector, each PSB hires economists. They normally ask for some work experience. Also, RBI hires specialists with Masters in economics background as Grade B manager (DEPR). As one gains experience, he/she can even go to World Bank, ADB, etc. The job profiles that you can get are Accountant, Research Analyst, Financial Analyst, Investment Banker, Securities Analyst and many more.
