Shipping Industry is a good sector where one may build a rewarding career. It is an important sector, which is crucial for the growth and stability of the Global Economy. Shipping Industry generates a number of job opportunities. Marine Engineers are required by the Industry in large numbers. After the completion of the course and 6 months of sea service, one will be able to get the Class 4 Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency. After getting this certificate, one may join Merchant Navy ships as a Marine Engineer. Hello,
Government of India has massive expansion plans in shipping industry. Govt. is planning to increase present contribution of shipping in GDP from around 23 percent to around 10 percent. Port expansion, new ports, Sagarmala project, Inland waterway project is being taken up in a big way.
In coming 510 years we may have lots of job in the shipping industry.
So yes, there is a lot of scope for marine engineering in India in future.
