A lot of companies directly or through consultancies hire Indian for foreign locations. Also, in oil & gas industry one can directly apply to outside India and can expect to be hired if have a good profile. So prospects are not bad. India has developed petroleum and gas industry with good opportunities in both PSU and private sector. It is a niche branch of engineering with comparatively lesser opportunities in comparison to chemical or mechanical engineering.
