    The starting salary at ONGC through GATE is;
    Basic pay: INR 60,000 + INR 21,000 cafeteria + INR 6,000 Dearness Allowance (variable) + House Rent Allowance depending on posting location + INR 11,000 Vehicle allowance for 4-wheeler and INR 4,000 for 2-wheeler + uniform allowance of INR 33,000 per 3 months (that means INR 11,000 per month) - deduction of around INR 30,000 (contains Provident Fund, Post Retirement Benefit Scheme, Income taxes, Central Secretariat Service)= In-hand salary. House Rent Allowance: 24 percent for A-class cities, 14 percent for B-class, and 8 percent for C-class cities
