It is a good career field, starting salary depends on the college and how well you are versed with your concepts. Doing economics honors from a prestigious college will definitely land you up in a good job.

It depends on the college that you graduate and also your knowledge, it may happen that you graduate from good college but you did not study hard, when it comes to placement they will test you if you don't have that knowledge you will lose that offer. Suppose you are from Sharda University the salary can go up to Rs. 7-10 lakhs, Economics honors from top 10 colleges can fetch you a salary on average of Rs. 6 lakhs per annum. Rest of the colleges would get you the average of Rs. 20-25 thousand.

It totally depends on the college you choose ranging from a mid salary of 45k-80k. If you get at the top 25%, you can achieve a monthly salary of 1,00,000 or above. But don't drive around salary, focus on your passion.
