What is the syllabus & exam pattern for the Oberoi STEP?

STEP (Systematic Training and Education Programme) is a three-year programme for students who are between 18 to 20 years of age and have completed or are about to complete class XII. STEP offers comprehensive on the job training in Kitchen operations or hotel operations (Front Office / Food and Beverage Service focus and Housekeeping focus) at selected hotels of The Oberoi Group. Alongside training, STEP also facilitates education through a correspondence Bachelor's degree in Tourism Studies from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Upon completion of STEP including the undergraduate studies from IGNOU, you are eligible to join The Oberoi Centre of Learning and development OCLD or Oberoi Central Employment Register OCER. The application process for STEP begins in February each year. STEP takes admission through Group Discussion and Personal Interview only. There is no entrance exam for STEP. Therefore, for STEP, you need to just work on your communication skills and prepare the current affairs well. You can prepare for GD and PI with the help of YouTube videos there are numerous videos available on YouTube. Or If there is an institute in your area for GD-PI preparation, you can join that too. Exam Pattern: Candidates can attend exams in online mode. Candidates who have filled application of Oberoi STEP will be provided exams dates & time. Candidates have to come on time along with one print-out of their application form along with one passport-size photograph, a copy of their class X certificate and class XII certificate. Candidates have to complete the paper in 2 hours. No extra time will be given to any candidates according to boards rules and regulation. The question paper will contain 4 sections in which 150 questions will be asked to candidates with selective four answer option with no negative marking. Question paper language will be in the English language. Candidates have to complete 2 rounds then only they will go to final rounds. In the first round, candidates are taken for a short tour in a group of 15-20 and questionnaires and other activities are conducted in spoken English. A candidate who got selected for the 2nd round has to attain a one-on-one meeting with a panel comprising of the faculty. And finally, they are taken to round three where activities and questionnaires including a final interview with a panel are conducted. The Oberoi group of hotels is one of the leading hotel chains in India. They not only provide ample job opportunities and are an ideal company for any HM aspirant but they also have a specialised programme that trains and groom student for an HM course. The process of admission into this program includes an exam Oberoi STEP-Systematic training and education programme. There are two courses for Kitchen operations and the hotel operations programme (Front office/housekeeping) and the eligibility is min. 60% in 10+2 and min. 50% respectively. This is not a written exam but a process of selection through three rounds of GD and personal interview. The shortlisted candidates are called for GD. Once selected in the GD then they have to appear for an interview with the OCLD faculty and thereafter final call letter are offered.
