What is the syllabus & exam pattern of IPCC exam?

IPCC is divided into two groups: Group 1 and Group 2. Group 1 includes Paper 1: Accounting Paper 2: Law, Ethics and Communication Part I: Law Business Law Company Law Part II: Business Ethics Part III: Business Communication Paper 3: Cost Accounting and Financial Management Part I: Cost Accounting Part II: Financial Management Paper 4: Taxation Part I: Income Tax Part II: Service Tax & VAT Group II includes Paper 5: Advanced Accounting Paper 6: Auditing & Assurance Paper 7: Information Technology and Strategic Management Part I: Information Technology Part II: Strategic Management this is all about exam pattern group 1 is of 400 marks and you should get more than 200 marks and in each subject you should get at least more than 40 marks then only you can pass the first group and the case is same with group 2, it is of 300 marks and you should score more than 150 marks in total and get at least more than 40% in each subject. The CA IPCC syllabus and exam pattern consists of 7 papers which are divided into 2 groups: Group I Paper 1: Accounting (100 Marks) Paper 2: Law, Ethics and Communication Part I: Law (60 Marks) Business Law (30 Marks) Company Law (30 Marks) Part II: Business Ethics (20 Marks) Part III: Business Communication (20 Marks) Paper 3: Cost Accounting and Financial Management Part I: Cost Accounting (50 Marks) Part II: Financial Management (50 Marks) Paper 4: Taxation Part I: Income Tax(50 Marks) Part II: Service Tax (25 Marks) & VAT (25 Marks) Group II Paper 5: Advanced Accounting (100 Marks) Paper 6: Auditing & Assurance (100 Marks) Paper 7: Information Technology and Strategic Management Part I: Information Technology (50 Marks) Part II: Strategic Management (50 Marks) A Student can appear for IPCC examination either group wise or appear for both the groups at the same time. To clear the IPCC level, a student has to secure a minimum of 40% marks in each individual paper of a group in one sitting and a minimum of 50% aggregate of a group to be declared as passed. In case, a student secures more than 60% marks in any individual paper of a group but fails to clear that group, the student can avail exemption from appearing in that paper for the next 3 consecutive attempts. The IPCC syllabus framed by ICAI has been formulated in such a way that students appearing for this level gain working knowledge of various subjects and detailed knowledge is expected from the students of CA Final.

According to the new revised scheme of CA education and training, the following changes have been made by ICAI in IPCC (Intermediate) level. Intermediate Course: Number of Papers- 8 Group I Paper 1: Accounting (100 Marks) Paper 2: Corporate Laws & Other Laws (100 Marks) Part I: Company Laws (60 Marks) Part II: Other Laws (40 Marks) Paper 3: Cost and Management Accounting (100 Marks) Paper 4: Taxation (100 Marks) Section A: Income Tax Law (60 Marks) Section B: Indirect Taxes (40 Marks) Group II Paper 5: Advanced Accounting (100 Marks) Paper 6: Auditing and Assurance (100 Marks) Paper 7: Enterprise Information Systems & Strategic Management (100 Marks) Section A: Enterprise Information Systems (50 Marks) Section B: Strategic Management (50 Marks) Paper 8: Financial Management & Economics for Finance (100 Marks) Section A: Financial Management (60 Marks) Section B: Economics for Finance (40 Marks) The above specified changes comes into effect from 1st-july-2017
