This job will keep you on your toes. In most large hotels, your role as a reservation manager is closer to that of the rooms division manager. It tends to be operational rather than strategic, although that depends on the setup. In general, you'll be creating rate plans, loading rates into the property management system and working with the revenue manager to boost occupancy and the average achieved room rate. You'll also liaise with the rooms division manager to ensure that on the day occupancy is maximised. Ticketing/Reservation executive makes and confirms reservations and sells tickets to passengers for large hotel or motel chains. May check baggage and direct passengers to designated concourse, pier, or track; make reservations, deliver tickets, arrange for visas, contact individuals, and groups to inform them of package tours, or provide tourists with travel information, such as points of interest, restaurants, rates, and emergency service. Education: The only preliminary education for an airline ticketing agent is a high school diploma. Airlines have their own training facilities that usually consist of a week or two of classroom training followed by on-the-job training by shadowing an experienced ticketing agent. New agents begin by handling luggage and work up to handling seating assignments, completing ticket forms and reserving tickets for passengers. Salary: Generally, it is much favored to go in airline ticketing and reservation. Payscale is generally higher as compared to other sectors. Salary ranges from 25-30k/month. Next best in Railways where the workload is at peak during occasions and festive seasons. Salary ranges from 15-20k/month but the perks are better than other available options.

There has been a similar question, reservation is the act of booking a mode of travel, location, place of stay, event, etc. Reservation is involved in many sectors of the industry. Widely, it is related to the term of travel where reservation agents would book a ticket or mode of travel but not actually issue the tickets. This can be a part of the irtenary building, package management and so on.These profiles are quite common with travel companies and offer good career scope as you progress. Ticketing- this is the actual purchase/issuing of a ticket for the mode of travel. A lot of airlines have their offshore ticketing offices where immediate purchases can be made by passengers. These counters are also available at the airport and such jobs are offered directly through the respective airlines as ground staff. Ticketing would also require knowledge of certain software for the process. So, both have similar career prospects depending on the path you choose.
