What is the use of writing GATE exam for computer science engineering?

The use is that you can do M.Tech from IITs, NITs and government engineering colleges. You can also get into PSUs directly.

I have been interacting with engineering students for last 7 years. I have found that generally, the main concern of the student is getting a job in a good company with a decent package. The reason is very simple that most of the students come from a very humble financial background & after spending on an average Rs. 7-8 LPA for engineering, they are not in a position to ask for money again from their parents and are in a hurry to get a job. One more reason is that after studying for around 4 years there is very less patience left to go for higher studies. Hence, they become very eager and desperate to get a job anyhow. Getting a job is important but getting a right job is much more important. If you are not getting job with a right profile or if you are not getting a core job you will have to repent for the entire career. Unfortunately, students are so desperate that they are ready to compromise with the profile of the job for smaller packages. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro etc. Do mass hiring in the colleges irrespective of the streams because they are not offering core jobs and are looking for people with less aspirations to do a stereo type technical support jobs and not core jobs. If you are from an average college and placements is bothering you, it is really a wise decision to go for higher studies from very renowned institutes of India and even abroad. Once in a lifetime one should study from an institute which does not require any introduction. Higher study from a good institute can assure you a very good core job with very good salary package. Even your growth within the organisation will be much faster. Now, coming to the core of the question, GATE is the gateway to go for higher studies from the best institutes in India & even abroad. Now, I can conclude that GATE is almost mandatory for all the engineering students including Computer science. Computer science students should always go for higher studies from very renowned institutes of India and abroad. There is a lot of scope for higher studies for Computer Science students. A higher study from good institute not only assures a core job with handsome salary packages but also can assure a very successful career. Hope, this will help. Best wishes.
