What is the work of a mechanical engineer at Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL)?

1. As an Erection/Commissioning Engineer: A unit (Trichy, Hardwar, Bhopal, Hyderabad, and others) manufactures heavy equipment, e. g. , boilers, turbines (steam, gas, hydro), ESPs, panels, etc. , and sends it to the respective project site. The mechanical engineer erects this equipment as per the planned layout, commissions it, and makes it run. This is the most challenging work profile with the highest level of responsibility. 2- As a Production Engineer: A Unit has many workshop bays where different products are made. A production engineer is in charge of a basin and ensures the proper and on-time manufacturing of a particular product. 3. As a Quality Engineer: When the product is ready, it is to be thoroughly checked by a Quality Engineer. They perform many tests as per the contract and prepare reports. 4. As a Material Management/Purchase Engineer: Many of the internal components of heavy machinery are purchased directly. A purchasing engineer buys these materials as per technical specifications. 5. As a Marketing or Proposal Engineer: A marketing executive prepares the commercial offer and submits it to the customer, participates in negotiations, and plays a significant role in bringing order. They used to meet customers, give an overall presentation covering the entire product range, and play the role of single-point contact for customers. 6: As an R&D/Design Engineer: A design engineer is considered the product owner. A mechanical engineer designs the product and prepares production drawings. R&D engineers improvise the existing design or innovate new methods, introductions, or materials that can enhance the performance of the product or make it more economical. Mechanical Engineer erect these equipments as per planned layout, commissioned it and make it running. This is the most challenging work profile with the highest level of responsibility.
