What is the worst GD/PI experience at B-schools?

Group discussion and personal interview plays a very important role in B- school admission. A lot of students will get shortlisted as well as eliminated after this GD and PI. GD and PI will test one’s ability to communicate and interact with others as it tests ones presence of mind. Large number of B-school campuses use this GD and PI round to analyze each and every student who want to get into their campus. Majority interview panel will conduct both the rounds with utter importance. Major campus like IIMs will give a major importance to this part of screening. Nowadays personal interview has changed its methodology. Now lots of stress rounds and questions which can confuse students are included in the list. Majority who attends GD and PI will face one round of stress interview. These are some of the worst part of GD/PI.

Don’ts: Don't lose your cool if anyone says anything you object to. The key is to stay objective: Don't take the discussion. Do not try and be someone you are not. Be yourself. Don't start speaking until you have clearly understood and analyzed the subject. Opening the discussion is not the only way of gaining attention and recognition. Do's: It is okay to say I don't know in an interview. Instead of answering a question without any knowledge about the topic, be humble and state that you are not aware of the facts. Typically, one should talk very briefly about family, education, career goals, hobbies and interests. Do not talk a lot about the past. Briefly refer to past education, life journey and future plans. Focus on skills development, increased responsibility while highlighting on your goals as achievement. But do not say I want to become VP or General Manager or similar stuff. GD: Read newspapers regularly so that you don't fall short on content. Try to enter the GD at the right point, such when others are taking a small pause. Be loud and assertive on points. It is not necessary to arrive at a consensus in during a GD. Candidates have different opinions and consensus can’t be arrived at times. But it is necessary to conclude the GD.
