    Founded in Belagavi, Karnataka, by the Karnataka government, Visvesvaraya Technological institution (VTU), originally known as Visveswaraiah Technological University, is a collegiate public state institution. All colleges in the state of Karnataka offering engineering or technology education must be affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, unless they obtain the approval of VTU and the government's endorsement.
