What is your review of Technical University of Munich?

TUM didn't use to charge international students from third world countries however since the winter semester of 2024-25 it has started charging as per field of study, based on the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG). The UG sem fees for TUM will usually be 2000-3000 euros (INR 2.1-3.1L) and 4000-6000 (INR 4.2-6.3L) euros for PG

The TUM Garching campus is the research-hub of the Technical University of Munich. The campus developed in 1957, began with the commissioning of the first research reactor: The Garching atomic egg.

The campus is located in close proximity to the best research institutions & startups in the region & is an integral part of Munich's technological ecosystem.

It is connected directly with Downtown Munich, via the underground line & is also easily accessible via the Munich airport & highway.

Students would need to have INR 12.6 L in their blocked account to be eligible for a student visa in Germany.  This is needed to prove you have enough money to fund your studies in Germany. TUM is very similar to MIT USA in certain aspects. It has a world-class research environment, as does MIT. It gives just as much importance to STEM courses and Innovation as MIT. It does not have the same level of reputation as MIT does, but, it is far more affordable than the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It also has a marginally better acceptance rate (8%), than MIT US (4.5%).

No, TUM Munich is not free for Indian students. It is only free for students from countries part of the EU. Indian students would have to pay a tuition fee worth INR 2.1 L-INR 3.2 L for UG courses. The tuition for PG courses is between INR 4.2 L-INR 6.35 L.
