I am a mechanical engineer and I know that having experience is beneficial in an interview.

First, you may have to brush up the knowledge of your specialised subjects and make yourself comfortable for an interview. You have to respond to questions in about 30 seconds or so. So, prepare yourself for that, mentally. Improve your English to a desirable extent. Learn some interview techniques.
