What kind of job is CA? What should I read for it and what is it all about?

The CA (Chartered Accountant) is one of the respectful and challenging career fields. CA is a good option for higher education in India. It is governed by ICAI and It takes 5 years to complete the CA course. The ICAI has launched the three level of this course: 1. Foundation 2. Intermediate 3. Final The foundation is the entry-level foundation course involves the quantitative aptitude test, general economics, mercantile laws and accounting. The students who had cleared their plus two examination can go for the foundation level test conducted by the ICAI The Intermediate has two groups. It covers the working knowledge of the core subjects. It is specially designed to improve the knowledge of accounting standards. After passing the group 1st or both Groups of Intermediate, the students have to undergo the on-job training period of 3 years called articleship with an audit or accounts firm. After completion of the articleship, the student can appear the final course. The CA final course covers the advanced knowledge of financial reporting, management accounting, strategic financial management, professional ethics, Direct Taxation as well as Indirect Taxation (GST) and advanced auditing. After the completion of this course you can go for the works as auditing, cost accounting, tax management, management accounting, consultancy and financial works in an industry.

The Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification is one of the most prestigious in our country. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the governing body that conducts the CA exams. Students who clear the final exam, held by the institute, are then absorbed by the industry as qualified chartered accountants (CA). To pursue CA, one has to clear three exams namely CPT (entrance exam), IPCC (Intermediate exam) and the final CA exam. Students who want to opt for CA can give the CPT exam after completing Class XII. Subsequent to clearing the CPT exam, students can appear for IPCC exam after nine months of preparation. The IPCC exam has subjective questions based on law, audit, tax, etc. as compared to the objective questions in the CPT exam. After clearing the IPCC exam, a student has to serve as an intern under a practicing CA for a period of three years before being eligible to appear for the final exam. From: quora.com
