What kind of skill set can help me get a travel job? Are these skills taught in the T&T courses?

Tourism is a booming industry offering many job opportunities in the sector. As this is an upcoming sector hence there are certain mandate skills required to excel in the field: Customer dealing- The art of understanding the customer requirements, needs and expectation is a key to building a rapport with the customer. Knowledge of the geography of said area- This goes a long way in giving the best experience to the customers keeping their requirements in mind. Additional language- This makes an advantage to foreign tourists as communication is a key to being able to deliver the requirements. Technical knowledge of travel process- Right from ticket booking, package booking, experience packages, fooding areas, etc. will help improve the travel experience. Problem solving- One needs to be very decisive and spontaneous to handle any problem/concern as and it occurs. These skills are learnt through experience and also taught in many personality development subjects in T&T course. However, the actual application basis the situation one faces will ensure better learning.

Hello, Travel job: The bane or boon? These and many more related questions must be coming to the minds of youngsters these days. This issue can be broadly split into two. Firstly, taking care of tourist arrivals and second to take care of our citizens who are touring either inland or abroad. As per the report published by IATA, tourist arrivals in India are showing an increase of almost 15% over previous year. Considering the creaking nature of facilities, this is great load but Indian tourism industry has successfully taken up this challenge. There is still huge latent potential for growth. But all this is possible only if trained personnel are available. This, in turn, has led to a boom in training institutions who are churning out skilled personnel. The professionalism depends on the training received and the person's capacity to absorb. However, I will like to say that these instructions are doing a very good job of imparting required skill sets and motivation into minds of these young people. To conclude, I would like to say that, politeness, helping mind, courtesy and all other related and required traits are indeed being taught in these instructions to the prospective professionals.
