What level of expertise is required in Mathematics for a course like B.Arch? How difficult is it for a student who is not good in maths?

Hello! As you know that Architecture is the Science of designing, it is very much necessary for you to learn Maths and Physics. The need of Maths is very high in this field. You need to have very expertise knowledge of Trigonometry, Differentiation & Integration, Coordinate Geometry, Statistics and probability. This are some mathematical concepts which you need to learn. For Physics, you need classical mechanics, Mechanical Properties of Solid, fluids and gases and rotational dynamics. If you are able to crack JEEs with good rank, it means, your concern is now over for Maths and physics. If you think that you are not good in Mathematics, then I would advise you to go for Tuition or coaching. It helps you a lot. There, you can learn the problem solving tactics to tackle the problem. Because without mathematical skills, it is very hard to clear B.Arch (even harder than taking admission in it). So, Maths & Physics is a must. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

To get admission into B.Arch (such as through IIT-JEE you would require regular JEE level mathematics. However, during the study, you will study more advanced levels of mathematics. In the actual course :Google Parametric Architecture, Rhinoceros Grasshopper Architecture and Zaha Hadid are the level of mathematics involved in only the design part of architecture. Now, taking in consideration the fact that estimation of building costs and energy consumption, etc. is also part of the architect's job, I think it should be clear how much maths, physics and even chemistry is involved in architecture. Science and maths are at the core of architecture, mixed with a lot of art, creativity and logical reasoning amongst other things. Generally, most jobs require one to know everything about something, but architecture is one of the few professions that requires one to know something about everything. Moreover, in colleges where minor degrees are offered, some people also decide to take a minor, such as in Civil Engineering or Economics. In such cases, you might need to take up some mathematics courses that might be relevant to the minor.
