Talking about the accommodation outside, you have plenty number of flats and PGs within a radius of 2 km. You would definitely require a two wheeler for your transportation unless you stay in TATA apartments which is a building next to the campus. Some other PGs where students commonly live are Sai Nila, Vinayaka PGs, TATA, SBIOS, etc.

The hostels of VIT Chennai are modern, with top-notch facilities and just okay meals. Every student has access to 200GB of Wi-Fi per day (sometimes it works well ), every day. Students can choose rooms with their pals based on shared academic interests. There are rooms with two beds, three beds, four beds, and six beds, both AC and non AC. The following are the mess fees for this academic year:
    Veg Mess - Rs. 71000
Non Veg Mess - Rs. 78000
Special Mess (nothing special just called) - Rs. 84000
For a 4 bedded Non AC room they charge around Rs. 60000
    For AC 3 bedded - Rs. 100000
On an average for non AC including mess it sums up to around - 1.
