Pick the right programming language for getting more comfortable with academic subjects like algorithms, data structures, OOP, etc. Many would suggest Python because of its great readability, or Java because of it power or C because of its simplicity. However, I'd like to suggest you to start with C+. Many would say that starting with a robust language like C+ would be a bad idea because of its complexity. But I'd like a highlight a few points.

Preferably I'll tell you to learn C. C is also there in WBUT UG engineering syllabus for first year, so learning C in advance will help you to cope up with classes. Also while other will struggle learning C, you may learn advance C or other languages like C+ and Python.
C+ is a subset of C, so it'll be really easy to learn C+ after leading C. In job interviews, they preferably ask questions from your basic knowledge of C. So learning C in depth is always welcome.
