What qualities and skills should one possess to become an art director?

<p>Hello, Nowadays, the art director is also termed as the creative director. So, it clearly understood by its name that one needs to be creative to be in this profession! It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations and ways of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture and paintings.</p><p>An aspiring art director should come from a graphic design background, and should be respectful to all either younger and elder and should have the courage to accept his/her error and would be a team player with leadership quality.</p><p>Originality is almost a given factor with these folks. Intelligence and integrity, a must in terms of creating a believable work of art. Strangely enough, the operative word for 'Creative Director' is Director. This position requires a step back to look at the big picture. He/She assesses the work in terms of how it will affect the brand and the communication.</p><p>Hope this helps. Good luck.</p>

Art directors formulate design concepts and presentation approaches for visual communications media, such as print, broadcasting, and advertising. They manage other staff members, including designers, artists and writers. They may look over specific elements, such as design concepts, original or stock artwork, layouts and the stylistic components of written materials. The art directors essentially need sound communication skills and creativity. They also need: 1)Good decision making and judgment. 2)Strong leadership skills to look after the work of other artists 3)Creativity and excellent communication to develop products that meet clients' needs. 4)Ability to prioritize work and manage deadlines 5)Good Time management skills 6)Critical thinking They should also have a good knowledge of the sales and marketing, design, customer services, administration and management. They need to be innovative and should possess the necessary professional skills to be successful as an art director.
