The candidate's state of origin and AEEE rank are taken into consideration when determining their admission to the mechanical engineering programme on the Coimbatore campus. If an applicant from Tamil Nadu receives a 6000 on the AEEE, they stand a fair chance of being admitted to Mechanical Engineering; this is not the case for candidates from other states. Admission to the Mechanical engineering department on the Coimbatore campus is based on the AEEE rank secured by the candidate and also the state from which the candidate hails. A Tamil Nadu candidate has a good chance of getting into Mechanical Engineering if he or she has a 6000 in the AEEE, however, the same is not valid for the other state candidates.
