Mining engineering is a niche engineering discipline that involves fundamentals of metallurgy and mining science and use of technology for extracting and processing minerals from a naturally occurring environment. A mining engineer manages all phases of mining operations – from exploration and discovery of the mineral resource, through feasibility study, mine design, development of plans, production and operations to mine closure. It involves all subjects related to metallurgy and mining practices like fractioning, cracking, distillation, processing and manufacturing of various metals like copper,iron ore, aluminum, tin, bauxite, limestone, zinc ,lead. It also involves learnibg of procurement of materials and logistics required for the same. Major companies recruuting are Vedanta, Schlumberger, Hindalco, Ambuja Cement, Shell, Exxon Mobil, Anglo American, BP, Tata Steel.
