What's the basic difference between CS and CA?

Hi, First of all, decide whether your interest is more theoretical oriented or practical oriented. CA is the one who specialises in taxation, auditing and accounting, a majority of the subjects are practical. Company Secretary is a specialist of law, drafting and compliances. A majority of the subjects are theoretical. There's no such thing as easy or hard. Both are almost at the equal level and require the same level of hard work and understanding. Seeing working prospects wise, CA is much more recognised course among the masses and can start his own practice with ease, that's not the case with CS. However, with the companies act 2013 the job prospects of CS enhanced tremendously as compared to CA. Decide wisely. Feel free to ask further. All the best.

CA (Chartered Accountant) is the highest level in accounts department i.e. in any company CAs are the top boss of the accounts department and CS (company secretary) is somewhat a lower post than CA.

Chartered Accountant is an international accounting credential that you earn by following a course of study and passing an examination administered by the Chartered Accountant Institute in your country of certification. CAs Are accounting experts in Non-United States GAAP and perform detailed accounting functions within an organisation or governmental entity. Most countries outside the US have their own institute. The most recognised are England, Ireland, Wales, and India. What is a CS? A Company Secretary holds a managerial position within a company. It is not a position of administrative support, which is commonly associated with the term secretary. In fact, some are attorneys or have MBAs. The country in which the CS is employed will determine the scope of responsibility. In some countries, employment of a CS within an organisation is mandatory. In general terms, a CS ensures that the company and the directors operate within the law.
