    Hello George, You have raised indeed a very interesting and pertinent query. Minimum cut off marks a student needs to score in the eligibility examination for getting into engineering colleges varies from institute to institute. IIT's mandate at least 75% in 12th examination or in the top 20 percentile. Some Deemed to be universities have put 60% as the qualifying criteria. However in majority of the colleges in almost all the states across India only about 50% seats are filled up.
