Kindly go for B.Tech after Diploma which will definitely get you good salary package. Scope will be very limited after Diploma and you may get a package of 3-4LPA not more than that. On the other hand after B.Tech your package will become as big as your expectations and performance.

I want to tell you that there are no such boundary limit for salary. Salary is totally dependent on your skills and the company in which you will work. My personal suggestion is that do your best and keep yourself best in technical knowledge, then you will get some good pay.

I think, you should go for engineering, as you will be in a good position for a decent salary and after that, your experience counts once you get into it.
