What salary package can I accept after doing media and communication?

Hi Siddharth, This is from somebody who has been in Advertising for above 8 years and has had a UG and PG degree in mass communication. Okay, firstly, none of the work areas (Advertising, PR, Journalism, Events etc) pay well when you are in the first 1-2 years of your career. The reason for this is pretty straight forward and somewhat justified - these fields of work are the kind where the things they teach in school and what happens in a real work environment is quite different. Most students who graduate from a communication school (or while studying) take up internships in various media organisations or agencies as they are called for PR, Advertising, Digital. Interns mostly work for free or at a TA/FA allowance. Freshers out of college can earn as low as 5K to 15K depending on the city and the size/repute of the organisation they are working for. I agree with some of the other responses in the thread, that if one is really passionate about the field, then one should look at investing thier time and effort upon learning the craft from a good mentor. (And a good mentor could be in a large/small organisation) Once you learn the craft and master it, this field pays you more than well for a decent living. I hope it was helpful. All the best.
