What should be my preparation strategy if I want to pursue architecture and secure admission in School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi?

Most important topics to focus on while preparing for B.Arch exams. It has 2 parts. Part 1 being Mathematics & General Aptitude Part 2 being Drawing test Part 1 Consists of - MATHEMATICS Algebra: Definitions of A. P. and G.P.; General term; Summation of first n-terms of series. Arithmetic/Geometric series, A.M., G.M. and their relation; Infinite G.P. series and its sum. Logarithms: Definition; General properties; Change of base. Matrices: Concepts of m x n (m 3, n 3) real matrices, operations of addition, scalar multiplication and multiplication of matrices. Transpose of a matrix. Determinant of a square matrix. Properties of determinants (statement only). Minor, cofactor and adjoint of a matrix. Nonsingular matrix. Inverse of a matrix. Finding area of a triangle. Solutions of system of linear equations. (Not more than 3 variables). Trigonometry: Trigonometric functions, addition and subtraction formulae, formulae involving multiple and submultiple angles, general solution of trigonometric equations. Properties of triangles, inverse trigonometric functions and their properties. Coordinate geometry 3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry: Direction cosines and direction ratios, distance between two points and section formula, equation of a straight line, equation of a plane, distance of a point from a plane. Theory of Calculus Application of Calculus Permutation and combination Statistics and Probability GENERAL APTITUDE - Objects, texture related to architecture and built environment. Interpretation of pictorial compositions, Visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawing. Visualizing different sides of 3D objects. Analytical reasoning, mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal), General awareness of national/ international architects Mathematical reasoning Sets and Relations Part 2 - DRAWING TEST Understanding of scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, colour texture, harmony and contrast. Conceptualization and Visualization through structuring objects in memory. Drawing of patterns - both geometrical and abstract. Form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes. Generating plan, elevation and 3D views of objects. Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms. Perspective drawing, Sketching of urbanscape and landscape, Common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.

School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi is one of the most demanded schools for architecture that any aspirant could opt for. The student needs to be in 10% cut-off bracket, SPA Delhi is the best institute for architecture and for the best you really need a good score. In my opinion, you need to score 250+ for guaranteed admission in architecture but 215 would be enough for admission in planning branch. But with these marks, you will get selected in the spot round only. For admission in the first round, you need a score of 290+. For this level of ranking, the preparation for the JEE exam has to be planned well, some of the steps that need to be taken to prepare are: Practice of old year mock papers: Use these papers to practice the questions in the paper also to practice the amount of time you invest to each question to be able to score the maximum marks. Join a coaching: You can join a good coaching centre but be sure to leave time for self-study. The coaching will brief you on the best approach to address the questions in the exam. Prepare questions for the interview: the interview also plays a major role for the admission in SPA, Delhi. You can practice the general questions that are asked and also prepare the points that you wish to share and can increase the chances of admission. These steps will ensure you perform well and build a great chance of admission in SPA.
