What should be my preparation strategy to qualify JEE Mains exam?

I have a whole year to prepare for JEE Mains exam.

What actually happening is many students are focusing on 12th board and not on JEE exams so as they appear for JEE Mains, they don't score well. In all the competitive exams, you have to smart work rather than the hard work as smart work reduces your time. Consumption in the topics that are not so important and only have a very little portion of examination.
