What should I choose: ACCA or CPA?

I want to go for accounting as my career but I am confused between CPA and ACCA, should I do CPA after my post graduation or ACCA just after my graduation? I looked at the differences also & saw CPA's scope less than ACCA but I am still confused about what to opt for.

You must go for CPA. Reason: CPA gives you a comprehensive knowledge about GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) which is used in the USA. If elsewhere, you must go for ACCA. Reason: ACCA gives you comprehensive knowledge about IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) which is used worldwide. Assuming that you are living in UAE and will continue to do so, you must choose ACCA as it has a joint exam scheme with UAE's accounting institute AAA. So after completing your ACCA, you will have UAE's CA as well.

The ACCA course has 13 exams that take on an average 3-4 years to clear. You also need 3 years relevant work experience. Now the US CPA requries you to clear just 4 subjects which you can do in 12-18 months and 2 years of relevant work experience. In broader terms, CPA is more efficient course for you to do.
