What should I do after 12th to get into interior designing? I am a student of class 11th science with PCB subjects.

If you really want to take up designing as a career for the love of creating and designing then you must pursue it. Unlike other design domains interior design is not entirely about design concepts. Along with ID skills like technical drawing, space design, material knowledge, furniture design, and familiarization with interior design tools, you must also have great interpersonal and communication skills, maintain a good network of clients, contractors and suppliers, and of course have the brains to market your interior design services and update them regularly. The country is growing at a fast pace and till 2018, the interior designing industry is said to be growing at a rate of 20%. So, if you are thinking of designing, it is not a bad idea. In India, when it comes to undergraduate interior design education, three main course formats are available. They are- Bachelors Degree courses Diploma courses Certificate coursesBachelor's degree would be : BA Interior Design- Duration is 3 years Bachelor of Architecture Interior Design- Duration is 5 years- Mathematics reqd Bachelor of Interior Design- Duration is 5 years (CEPT course)- Mathematics required. BA Interior Architecture and Design- Duration is 3 years and mathematics is required. Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) Interior Design- Duration is 4 years- B.Sc. Interior Design- Duration is 3 years A degree from a reputed institute would require you to take an entrance test such as NATA, CEED, NID, CEPT , NIFT Some diploma courses would be Diploma in Interior Design Diploma in Interior Design and Architecture which are 1-2 years long and admission is based on merit.
