What should I do after B.Pharm?

There is a lot of scope. I am going to talk about the paths commonly opted by students: Getting a job directly after B. Pharma: Graduates who do not wish to pursue post graduate studies or plan on doing them later try to get jobs after B.Pharma. Jobs are usually offered in the field of sales and marketing. Some also work as pharmacists in hospitals whereas some are able to secure jobs at manufacturing facilities of pharmaceutical companies. Some also set up their own pharmacy. MBA after B. Pharma: Some students pursue MBA after B.Pharma whereas some pursue it after gaining a few years' experience (usually in sales and marketing). Depending upon your talent, qualifications, and how good your MBA school is, students are offered jobs in higher management of pharmaceutical companies. Pharma MBA is also offered by some colleges in India.M.Pharma after B. Pharma: Students interested in academia and R&D take up M.Pharma. M.Pharma can be done in many fields like pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacology, pharmacognosy, biotechnology, etc. M.Pharma graduates either join the industry as scientists or as lecturers in universities. Some M.Pharma students pursue a Ph.D. which is required to become a professor in good Indian universities. A lot of Ph.D. holders also join the industry. (There is a difference between a lecturer and a professor) MS/PhD after B. Pharma: Motivated students who pursue undergraduate research and gain experience via internships along with good scores in college can apply for MS or even direct Ph.D. programs abroad. GRE and TOEFL/IELTS may be required depending upon the country and university. The competition is usually very cutthroat as you are competing with applicants from all over the world.LLB after B. Pharma: This is a very uncommon route. Some B.Pharma graduates pursue LL.B and become lawyers. They usually later specialize in pharmaceutical jurisprudence, intellectual property law, patents, etc. Hope this helps.

Tanya the options for you are : 1. Do M. Pharma, 2. Do MBA, 3. Get into a job, 4. Open a medical store, 5. Divert into other subjects if you feel like changing your career.

Tanya, The B.Pharm graduates can either go for jobs in the related field or can opt for further advanced studies. The options available after B.Pharm is M.Sc. Pharmaceutical Chemistry Management Program in Pharmacy Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) Management program in Hospital Management and so on. After the course what is important is institute. These days most private institutions are a hub of quality education and good placements. Many of them offer good exposure to students by giving them ample practical knowledge. Many of them have even patents registered in their names, where even students have worked hard and got contribution. Check websites of some of the institutions for more details. Good luck.
