What should I do after class 12th to prepare for IAS exam?

Hi, To become an IAS officer you have to appear in Civil Service Exam. The Civil Service Examination is organized by UPSC every year to recruit candidate for IAS, IPS etc. Academic Qualification: The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field from a well-known college or university. You can pursue graduation in any stream. Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission's examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination. -Age Limits: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination. Number of attempts: Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination. Selection Process The Civil Services Exam is a paper based test and consists of two successive stages: (i) CSAT (Objective type) comprising 2 exams: General Studies (ii) Civil Services Main Examination (Written and Interview) CSAT-Prelim: - Paper 1 is on General Studies This includes areas like Indian National Movement, Indian Polity, Basic Economic Understanding, Geography While the dynamic part includes current affairs, GK and has no proper definition and syllabus making quite vast. - Paper 2 includes mathematics, reasoning, analytical ability, and interpersonal skills. Unlike paper 1 which has a static part, paper 2 is dynamic in many sense. The Main exam will consist of : Essay Modern Indian Language, English General Studies-I General Studies-II General Studies-III General Studies-IV, Optional Subject Paper-I Optional Subject Paper-II I hope this information helps. Hello, Before taking admission in any institute, you can also start preparing it by yourself by purchasing the study materials, magazines, be regular updated about current affairs, get monthly magazines, etc. If you will be earlier updated about all these stuffs it will be easier for you to crack IAS examination. There are few institutes which will provide you the required materials, monthly magazines, mock tests papers, etc. I too started preparing the IAS when I was at the first year of my graduation level. I purchased study materials, practice papers from the institutes and practiced by itself. After graduation, I taken admission on that institute and it becomes very much easier for me to crack my prelims and mains at first shot. The faculties are very experienced and study materials and mock tests provided by the institute are up to the level of UPSC exams. All the best.
