Do what you like, commerce is a good field, if you have interest in it and if you take Maths without having interest in it, then you will surely end up with only problems and not solutions. So. in short do what you like not what your friends want you to do.

Hi Deependra, it's all up to you whether you want to take mathematics as an optional or not. Don't let other decide your preferences. Good luck.

I am in class 12th and I have taken commerce along with maths as 6th subject so that even if I fail in maths then it would not affect me. Today, I am in a condition to achieve at least passing marks.
Taking maths will help you to get eligible for higher ranked colleges as they ask for maths as a compulsory subject.

I am in class 10th too and can't give you a proper advice but all I could say is that you must follow your dreams. Thus, you must take up commerce. Even I am going to take up commerce next year.

You can take math as 6th subject.
For example, I have commerce with typography and maths in which my maths exam result will be shown on my mark sheet of class 12th, but it won't affect my overall percentage.
    Good luck.
