It doesn't matter if you lose 1st semester and that is not going to decide your entire life. It's just a part of your life. Don't lose your interest on the course due to this failure. You would have learnt many things in this failure. Try to avoid those mistakes in the next semesters to

Dear friend,
First of all, don't lose your hope. I know it's very tough to handle the pain of back papers but every end is a new beginning. Work hard and clear these papers. And also, work hard for the next semester and trust me, there is no substitute of hard work.

Obviously, you should work hard and try to get your exam clear for subjects in which you fail. You can give second, third or even fourth attempt for papers you have failed in. But, try to keep these attempts as less as possible.
