What should I do to become a stock broker?

Hi Anuj, The minimum educational qualification required to become a stockbroker is a graduation with at least 2 years of experience in a stockbroking firm. A sub-broker (the previous stage of being a broker) needs to have passed the class 12th standard to be eligible for his job. Minimum age: 21 years. Although there aren’t stock broking courses as such, you need to have a background in the specialized fields of commerce, business administration or economics to become a professional stockbroker. To have an even better shot at joining this illustrious and taxing career, one can choose to pursue a post-graduate degree in commerce or economics. First and foremost thing that you need to do is to register and become a member of a stock exchange. You must also register with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). SEBI governs all the stockbrokers, protects the rights of the investors and acts like a regulatory body of the ever-fluctuating markets. Ensure that you have adequate infrastructure and finances to register and operate as a stockbroker. One of the criteria the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) considers while evaluating your application as a stockbroker is whether you have the required office space, equipment and manpower to work effectively as a stockbroker. Minimum age for any stock broker is 12 years and he/she must be graduated and most important 2 years experience is also required.
