Learn how to use basic GIS software like ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo, GeoMedia and the rest.
Find an organisation where you can practice and improve your GIS skills.
Little programming knowledge is good for building a career in GIS. You can take it further by learning how to program in Python and R.
