To become an archaeologist, first of all, obtain a bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or any such field. That first training allows you to obtain some basic skills that you require to analyze the artifacts and learn about human history.

Internships provide field experience, a key to becoming employable. The majority of archaeologists further their education to a master's or Ph.D. to advance in areas of environmental archaeology or bioarchaeology. Professional association memberships can enhance job listings and networking. Lastly, field experience is necessary to become employed in this competitive field.
