What things must be kept in mind while choosing an engineering college (government ones)?

While most of the time its your rank in the entrance that decides which college will you get esp. for IITs, nits and IIITs but if you hv the privilege of choosing your college so do a pre-research work on the following: 1. What branch hv u thought of joining and which colleges are best in it ( atleast 3 to be shortlisted) 2. Talk to the alumni about faculty, infrastructure, placements, etc to make a good decision. 3. Alternative branch also to be kept ready if you are not offered what you wished for. Hope this helps
