If you have completed class 10th, eligibility criteria for taking admission through lateral entry is to pass with 50% aggregate marks in class 10th, subject to qualifying entrance exam. Some institutes give direct admission to students on the basis of their marks in class 10th. Hi Gunjan, With a diploma you can seek entry in technical support functions or staff jobs in industries or as trainee engineers or in the defense services. In case you can, it is better to enhance your qualifications by further study programs. The options you have to further your educational qualifications are 1.Seek lateral entry into B.E. courses, several engineering colleges do offer this provision; 2. You could opt for a part time 4 year B.E from an engineering college or acquire a BS degree by distance education e.g. from BITS (details at <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="www.bits-pilani.ac.in" style='word-wrap:break-word;'>www.bits-pilani.ac.in</a>); 3.Opt for associate-ship of Institute of Engineering (<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="www.ieindia.org" style='word-wrap:break-word;'>www.ieindia.org</a>), for the AMIE, diploma holders get an exemption; 4. Enroll for a post diploma course in software at a recognized training institute.5. Enroll for a course in CAD/CAM; 6. Union Ministry of Labour run advanced Training Institutes offer short-term job oriented, skill enhancement courses which you can enroll in. You could enter computer-aided design after electrical engineering or you could learn and work in the filed of Industrial Design. Additional knowledge of CAD / CAM using current software would be an asset. You can also go for high-end design softwares like Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/E) and Catia and Matlab. You can explore courses with DOEACC Centre (formerly Centre for Electronics Design and Technology of India (CEDTI) is an autonomous scientific society set-up by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, for development of designers and entrepreneurs in the field of application of electronics and computers for industrial problem solving through Design oriented training programs and consultancy services.
