What will be the most lucrative field in ten years: data science, ethical hacking, or app/software development?

Hello, There is an old saying that "Future is Uncertain". Based on the current market trends, I think that 'Ethical Hacking'/is the field that will be in more demand in future. The reason why I am saying this because of various cyber-attacks across the globe. Various intruders and cyber criminals are always look to that system, which is highly vulnerable and prone to attacks. This makes the demand of ethical hackers grow at very fast pace in coming years. However, the futuristic career of data science will also not lacks because, this is the branch of IT on which the Companies move ahead to take the accurate decisions. Hence it will also flourish. But, nothing can happen if your data is not secure. Hence to protect the Data, ethical hacker will always be in demand.

Hello, That's a very hypothetical question to answer. It's very tough to predict the situation after 10 years. It depends on how much technology evolves and how far is the industry taken over by automation. Based on the current situation, if I have to predict, let's analyze all the 3 fields: * Data Science: Deals with extraction, handling and processing of data. Have already been taken over at large by automation process. Hence, scope of this field being lucrative is very less. As of now, research work on optimizing the entire process is being carried out on a huge scale. * Application / Software Development: Currently there isn't much scope in this field. With all the current technologies, "templates" are already available to create any kind of software / application in a quick and efficient way. All it requires is modifying the user interface and the functions a bit as per the needs of the software / application. So, assuming a new technology comes into picture, it will be lucrative for a couple of years until "templates" for the same are developed. * Ethical Hacking: Ethical Hacking does not have enough scope because not many companies invest in hackers. On the other hand, it's counterpart - Cyber and Information Security might be a lucrative field to look into. This process cannot be completely automated at any point of time. Security forms the core of any company as it ensures reliability. Even though automated machines might be able to detect vulnerabilities, it will require human intervention to analyze and rectify it. Further automation in this field can never be completely reliable. I hope this answers the question.

The role of the application developers will change dramatically in the next 10 years, because of advances in smart software, availability of enterprises applications and COTS, artificial intelligence etc. Given this environment, traditional application developers, or software engineers may have to learn in data science, cloud operations, and security. More and more computing processes are taking place in the cloud. These are areas that will be in high demand, as a more complex, data-driven market becomes the new norm. Requirements of Data science have been building up to this for several years, and it’s never been truer than it is right now that big data is king. Companies are looking for employees who can take huge amounts of information and analyze them for insights. Without robust systems in place to prevent security breaches that can lead to information theft, a company will ultimately lose the trust of its consumers. Because of this, cybersecurity is one of those evergreen skills that will always be needed.
