For the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) you do not specify the post for which you want to apply at the time of the exam. The process is structured as follows:
1. Preliminary Exam: You first appear for the preliminary exam. This exam is qualifying in nature and does not determine your final rank.
2. Main Exam: If you qualify the prelims you appear for the Mains exam. This includes written papers and an interview.
