No, HPCET is not compulsory for admissions to BTech at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Institute of Engineering and Technology. Students can apply through JEE Mains as well as HPCET. Students must still meet the eligibility for the course as well as their preferred exam with students meeting the cutoff receiving admissions.

The last year cutoff of Computer Science courses in the HPCET was 20% for the general category candidates and 15% for the reserved categories. For HPCET 2023, it was a minimum of 55% in Class 12 for the general category and 50% for the reserved categories. Admission will be on the basis of merit in the HPCET exam and the number of applicants and seats available. These cutoffs are indicative and may vary each year based on overall exam performance and institutional policies.
