When is the right time to write IAS exam- after graduation or post graduation?

    It is a good question for some discussion.It depends on the amount of preparedness the young man has.If he set his mind on IAS ever since boyhood and has been struggling for it, there is no meaning in waiting till PG.He can attempt the examination after Degree.

    It doesn't matter u give exam after ug or pg.u must be prepared for IAS.preparation for IAS requires almost 2.5 years .starting preparing from ug is good

    I would prefer post graduation as by doing it you gather knowledge which becomes very helpful in your preparation for the UPSC exam. Plus it gives you an added qualification which comes in handy if you are selected in UPSC servies. Yes, it is important that you study for post graduation keeping in mind that you will be appearing for the UPSC exam.

    Hi,
    The minimum criteria is a bachelors degree in a relevant discipline. It is not important that you pursue masters before writing this prestigious examination.
    Your preparation for IAS exam should start long before you complete graduation. Some of the IAS toppers are of the opinion that one should start preparation during their graduation while others feel that one year is enough to prepare for the first stage that is the Preliminary stage as it completely depends on the intelligence, aptitude of the candidate and his/her choice of optional subjects.
