You should start preparing for CAT from now onwards. It will help you in preparing for CAT 2018 also. Also you will be able to score better as you have almost more than 1 year for preparation. If you are focussing on CAT 2019, then also your preparation can fetch you good percentage.

You would basically need to join a crash course now (if you feel like you can't prepare on your own). But in case you are the smart one and think you can practice by yourself - then do so. Nothing better than giving hours and hours of smart work (not hard work) by yourself to CAT preparation. In case, you are also shortlisting the colleges to apply at right now only, then it is a great decision. Organized planning gives better results. I would suggest that LM Thapar School of Management is a must-try. Like you can at least try exploring opportunities and resources present in this Punjab based MBA college. I started preparing for CAT in 3rd year of my engineering, but I was never serious so I ended up missing a lot of classes and was very irregular. Ended up scoring less. Decided to give CAT another attempt and this time promised myself to be serious about it. After my engineering, I didn't take up a corporate job (had an offer). Instead I started working with my father in our family business and was preparing for CAT alongside. I will share my daily routine with you:
I used to go to work at 10am and return by 5pm or 6pm. After that from around 7 or 8 I used to start studying till 1 or 2 am. I used to give one section test of RC consistin

    Hi,
Anywhere between 12 months to 18 month is more than enough if prepared by enrolling for classes and studying regularly. In certain cases, people have prepared in 6 months as well and cracked CAT with good score. Hence, a lot of it depends on your capacity to grasp subject matter, speed, and consistency. I would suggest take into account 18 months to be on safer side as first 6 months can be spent on ground preparations such as the reference books, last papers, question paper format, choice of classes, etc.
