Panjab University will turn 135-year-old on Sunday. Established on October 14, 1882 in Lahore (now Pakistan), PU was relocated to Punjab in India after partition in 1947
In 1958, there were only three cars on campus. In 1960s, I brought a second-hand Fiat car which I used to drive to PU.

It was established in 1962 and is the nation's third-the oldest agricultural university, after Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneshwar. It was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on July 8, 1962. PAU pioneeered the Green Revolution in India in the 1960s. It was bifurcated in 2005 with the formation of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU).
