10 +2 +3 is the required minimum education for applicants. Additionally students who have completed their Undergraduate degree programme or are in the third year of study may register for the GATE admission exam. In the past candidates could only apply in one subject or one disciple. Now there is no such rule. In other words after 6th semester you can apply for GATE examination.
