Whether Mahatma Gandhi university, Shillong, Meghalaya's courses are approved by Distance Education Council in India?

I fully agree tht MGU, meghalaya is approved by UGC/DEC, but it is a private univ and not listed with association of indian univs. It can be seen in ugc website tht inspection is awaited. Am sure there are many central,state, and open univs where u will find ur desired course. Since ur pursuing ur studies under distance mode do it frm a univ of repute which is recognised by ugc/dec/aicte and AIU too. Avoid private univs as much as u can keeping in mind tht u will be going thru almost the same syllabus, same no. of years, same effort, so why settle for something less. Mahatma Gandhi University (M.G.U) is established through Meghalaya State legislative Act, 2010 (Meghalaya Act No.6 of 2011), published in the Gazette of Meghalaya vide No.LL (B).138/2010/41. Mahatma Gandhi University is empowered to award degrees as specified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 22 of the UGC Act 1956. MGU is recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC) and the Tripartite Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC.
