AMUEEE is like every other engineering exam. The difficulty level may be defined as higher than that of UPSEE and lower than that of BITSAT. It is always good to attend coaching classes where the students are provided with materials, question papers, mock tests, etc. All these enhance the overall speed and helps in time management. Personal experience:
I appeared for AMUEEE in 2014 and secured 60% marks in the entrance exam. Being an internal (student of AMU), there is an increased the probability of me getting selected. And yes, at present I am pursuing engineering from AMU. I did Aakash Coaching two years classroom course but due to the constant change in the teaching faculty, it was not easy to understand and grasp concepts easily. But the facilities provided were better than any other institute in Aligarh. Now the things have changed and Aakash Institute is trying to deepen its roots in Aligarh too.

Generally, preparing for JEE will make your task lot easier and allow you to appear for many exams including AMUEEE. So, I would suggest joining coaching for JEE and then few weeks before AMUEEE giving 100% attention to it.
